peta did it again
After years of protest by Peta against KFC, KFC finally decided to ensure that all chickens used within Canada are more humanely killed. They are also going to provide a chicken alternative at all of their Canadian stores.
Is KFC giving in to Peta's demand or seeing a market?
"Standing outside KFC protesting all day..you really build up an appetite."

Peta pockets...
Peta is offering $1 Million to the first scientist who produces In vitro meat and brings it to the market. Am I the only one who thinks this is a horrible idea?
grown not made
Heinz ketchup is creating a blend of ketchup in the U.K that will be three times the price. It is made from deluxe ingredients and will feature the slogan "grown not made" on the box.
read about it here.
I doubt it will ever hit North America. If you are looking spend way too much on ketchup and are in the U.K...this one's for you.

Okay?
This study shows that the color blue is an appetite suppressant. Because of the few foods that are actually blue our mind doesn't associate the color with something edible. So of course someone invented Diet Glasses. They are regular sunglasses but with blue lenses.
Okay?

Much Ado About Something
The price of wheat has been ballooning lately. The words that we tend to eat with our bread broken at the beginning of a meal, may be lonely. With the additional expense that the price of bread will add to a restaurant there is a good chance that many places will no longer offer it gratis.
There are a few factors in the price jump. There was less wheat produced this year than there has been for quite some time. Many wheat farmers were persuaded into starting to grow corn. To add to this the farmers that were growing wheat suffered a horrible year in productions due to bad weather and a new disease.
The smell of fresh bread being baked may become even more of a luxury.
As for me, I'm just thinking about the inflation in price. Where will it be in five, or ten years for that matter?
Think and eat.

Just A Little Bit Of Food For Thought
Warm water actually freezes faster than cold water.
This is called the Mpemba effect.
The reasons:
-warm water evaporates, reducing the volume
-warm water has convection currents which circulate, frost insulates which in turn takes longer to freeze

Deep Fried Crack.
Deep Fried = Love.
Seriously though, you can really show someone you love them by hooking them up with some real good deep-fried-love. Welcome to the most romantic place in the world Kennedy Fried Chicken.
Forget about all those big name chain restaurants, hit up one you probably never heard of or if you have probably didn't even know was a chain.
Kennedy Fried Chicken is perfect for when that Chicken Craving comes up behind you and gags you with hunger.
If you know me, you know that I love all sorts of food. Wings definitely have a soft spot in my stomach though(in a good way).
You know your wings are official when they are so crispy that you don't know if you are eating the bone or the skin.
I'd eat it: when I was drunk.
P.S I saw the colonial tied up in the bath room

Buggin Out
Those crazy kids over at Nestle Research Centre really outdid themselves this time.
They have just invented what they are calling an electronic nose. Its actually a device that is meant to assist the human tasters determine where the perfect espresso lies.
This machine will help quickly identify certain qualities of an espresso such as sweetness, bitterness, etc.
The question is when can I get one?

Dumpling House
I love dumplings, I also love sandwiches. Dumpling House is snack food at its finest, and cheap.
Reccomended is the Peking duck sandwich on home made sesame bread, and pork and cabbage dumplings. Pick your poison though, there are enough choices that you will be content eating this cheap meal thrice a week.
I'd eat it: three times a week

As a species we tend to have a bad habit of living day by day. Problems that are not apparent, are in no apparent need of a solution. A destructive mentality, that will lead to many problems. I am one person, as are you. However, we together are the key. I strongly believe awareness is the first step in protecting our planets valuable assets.
This year wheat prices have raised to record highs. Droughts and diseases cut production to a 35 year low. This is happening throughout the environment, bananas and coffee are also falling victim to circumstance. This spawns the question what can we do?
Here is what some people have done.
The United nations have implemented the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources which is dedicated to collection seeds from as many plants around the world as possible.
You can read about it here:

Another effort that is underway is The Science Barge, an urban barge that is docked in New York City. The following video explains this sustainable commodity.
There are several initiatives throughout the world. It is extremely important now, and only becoming more so for the future.
It is vital to participate in helping secure our place in the future. Where would all the foodies be with no food to savor?
